What do you think is the role of the call center agents in our society?

Anonymous asked: pwede po magtanong? help sna. What do you think is the role of the call center agents in our society? im not that good at expressing my opinions kase, kaya hihingi sana kong help. sna ok lang po. Thank you po. Kahit na hindi nyo na ko ihelp, thank you pa din :)

Kung assignment ‘to, hindi ko alam kung makakatulong kasi kadalasan ng hinihingi sa mga write-ups sa school ay positive dapat. Katulad ng tanong: What is the role of the call center agents in our society? Pwede namang “is there a significant role played by the call center agents that affects our society?” which could be answered by yes or no, hindi ‘yung former question na obligado kang magsagot ng tungkol do’n kasi “what is” hindi “is there.”

Anyway, to answer your question (about my opinion), I think due to the popularity of the BPO workforce, masyado nating tinitignan na malaki ang naitutulong nito sa bansa, which is not true, as far as my calculations are concerned (prove me wrong). They serve foreign investors and not the country. Well, they pay large amounts of taxes to add to the government fund but that’s all they contribute to the economy. Katulad nga do’n sa sinabi ko sa isang nagtanong sa’kin, they are helping other countries, not ours. Also, due to the popularity of it, we are losing our almost-gone Pilipino culture which had been in danger for so long since we are an American dictated country, even our culture is in danger as well as our economy. The way most of our generation’s population dream a large amount of pay with the dreams coming true with being “call center agents,” we don’t seem to value the regular workplace, the regular professions. Just like what the other anonymous asker asked, we don’t seem to dream larger and the people who dream of being professionals, like teachers, clerks, secretaries, etc. have been minimal; it is, maybe, because the large portion of the population are preoccupied with the thought that at BPOs, the salaries are high with a regular job in which we think that is the only place we could get that amount of pay.

In that, also, thinking that there are higher paying jobs, we don’t seem to care about lower-earning people and just dream of having higher pays than the others. We don’t seem to make a legitimate call for high salaries for the regular workers because we are eaten by the thought that everyone has an exit from low-paying jobs, which is the BPO workplace, and the regular workers—the factory laborers, secretaries, maintenance, assistants, the working class—are left with lower wages.

The people who work in it do not affect our society, it is the nature of work and the popularity of it is what’s affecting us: that we have to deal with the fact that we have to be slaves and nothing more. And the role of the call center agents? Tax payers.
